Fuchs wheels
A photo, L1070125W.jpg is attached which shows the inside of a 7 inch wheel for a 911 and the part number (911 361 020 44) for that 7x16 wheel. I had to roll the front fender lips on both our 1978s -- with sevens on the front -- to stop that occasional rubbing or hit, but endured the occasional fender lip hit for years. The paint was over thirty years old on our 911s when the fender lips were rollled and the paint suffered NO cracks. Light heat must be applied to the fender lip creases at the time they are rolled.
The eights will be no problem on the rear, unless the 911 is severely lowered. In the latter case the tire may rub on the inside of the wheel well about three to four inches up from fender lip, and will blister the outer paint. I do not have a photo of the inside of an 8x16 wheel with its part number.
The 7 and 8 off of a 1986 944 Turbo will fit beautifully on a 911 (Google 1986 951 Fuchs wheels to get the part numbers), and look like 6s and 7s as the lug nut holes are deeply recessed on the 1986 944 Turbo Fuchs wheels. Earlier 1983 to 1986 normally aspirated 944s could be ordered with 7Jx15 and 8Jx15 Fuchs and those wheels will fit a 1978 to 1989 911 fine, but your tire choices may be limited.
