Default 911 3.2 Carrera rough idling

hi all,

I hv a 3.2 Carrera and suffering from rough idling issue when the car started in the morning. Any idea what's the problem? A relay issue or what?

Thanks, Eric

Start with the basics like: Does your Idle control valve buzz and move freely? Are your intake manifold runners seated nice and tight? Are your fuel injectors clean?

Thanks. Where's the idle control valve? It's an electronic?

Sits front and center as you open the engine bay. If it isn't shiny and new I would buy a new one. Google image search will make it clear where it is.

There is also the possibility it is the cylinder head temp sensor. This would affect it only when cold as it richens the mixture. It leans it out as it senses the engine warm up.

There is no magic bullet however and diagnosis may take some time and effort.

When was it tuned the last time? Does it clear up as the engine warms up? As Ice said, could be several things. The ICV is in the center of the engine, just above the shroud. If it clicks, then I suggest you remove it and clean the insides and reinstall. There are a couple of clamps securing it .

Thanks for the replies. I will check the icv first. I didn't start the car for 2 months so it's definitely a cold start. Will do more checking in the weekend. Thanks again.

Any chance you are in SoCal? I've got a known good spare ICV and the socket for the HTC.
