Default Advice needed- best move for rebuilding a '75 915 trans?

My 915 needs a refresh, grinds in 2-4 if it is rushed at all. It seems like the parts are getting hard to find and I see a few possible rebuilders out there.

Rancho is one source, $2500.00 exchange or $3500.00 outright [on ebay]. I think I would need to buy outright since my case has the clutch cable mount broken and it might not make their grade for exchange.

What is my core 915 worth if I bought a rebuilt unit outright? Is there a good parts source that I have not seen?

Thanks for any ideas...

Yes, 2,3 and 4 grind a bit. I have read the Zimmerman stuff, looking to cover all the options.
