Dilivar
Talked to a buddy (shop owner) that re did my 930-10 tonight to shoot the breeze.
He's got 4 motors in with broken Dilivar studs needing a rebuild (he works alone).
Three 3.2's and one is a 964 and it's not the first one he's done.
His advice, take all the Dilivar studs to the trash can.
I thought Porsche had done some kind of magic to Dilivars to make them 'better'?
His opinion as the 'newer' cars get older they'll have the exact same problem all of the dilivar stud cars have had.

Mine too...however, I'd heard that the 'new' dilivar was the hot ticket and just heard otherwise.
He said he saw the exact same stress fracture on the 964 stud that he'd seen on all of the older models.
Just hadn't heard that anywhere else.

I guess time is catching up with the newer old cars too. Does anyone use Dilivar anymore? I was a little surprised they were still sold. I thought the rule of thumb these days was that if you were not going to use ARP or Raceware, then Porsche steel studs were the way to go.

The best stud money can buy are the 993TT ones. There is nothing better and there are a lot worse ones to use. These are not cheap anymore, but you really do get what you pay for.
Steel ones are fine for the 2.7 & smaller engines.

No leaks or issues on my 930-10 with steel studs after 16k miles.

I always expected this to happen. I went with Porsche steel. They work great in the aluminum cases. Dilivar would have been great for the magnesium cases but Porsche was a little late on their game.

Pretty much what the guy that rebuilt my 930-10 says. He started as factory mechanic in 1970 and still builds flat 6's.
