That's pretty thin for these engines. Also not all Mobil 1 oils are formulated the same way - this reference shows they have two 5W-30 synthetics, they have different levels of zinc and phosphorus, and both are below the min 1200 ppm that I think most folks recommend.

Your car doesn't have that high a mileage - you would benefit switching to the better oils even at this stage.

And it's not just about the viscosity and the additives. It's also resistance to shear and the proper detergents. Stick with the Brad Penn, Valvoline, Mobil 1 weights already mentioned. Probably Royal Purple is fine too, but you have to make sure you buy the stuff with the good additive package (HPS line, I think). I wouldn't use any other brands or types, but now we're starting to get into a religious discussion that usually dooms these "what oil" threads.

I know its an old topic, but for super clarity any old aircooled engine should run brad penn 20-50 semi synthetic oil because of the high high zinc levels in those oils are better for older engines even if rebuilt, 20-50 because it will run cooler

Oil filter i run mahle oc 54

BP is not the only choice for higher ZDDP levels. There are several oils out there that will do justice to an air-cooled Porsche motor.

If you want advice from a shop find an independant P shop that works on the older air cooled cars.
A dealership hasn't seen an AC car in years and the parts guy that you talked to is clueless.
If you want to destroy your SC use 0/40.
Brad Penn 20/50.
