Default Carrera 3.2 - J series 1987: Jubilaum vs Anniversary

Hello everybody,
I had the chance to took a photoshooting of a 911 Carrera 3200 Jubilaums Sonderserie 250.000 and I'm going to write a large article for a Porsche mag.

Well, It comes to me a little unclear "why" in the same period Porsche produced another special version, the 911 Carrera 3200 Anniversary (if a reason there was).

AFAIK it seems that these two models were almost identical (for trim and colours).

Any help on this stuff? Any "register" in existance? Any already discussed topic on this?

Thanks a lot to who will help me.

In the US the 250,000 commemorative edition was a 1988, and the 25 year was an 89. As you can see from the picture I have the 1988 car (cab). I do not believe there were any special editions in 1987.
There is quite a lot that has been said here and elsewhere about these models, and the only distinguishing characteristics were basically cosmetic in nature.
Hope this helps.

The US dealers are always hungry for margin and "special edition" cars always sell at a premium. Try to explain why the stripped down "Clubsport" sold at a higher price than the normal Carrera. It can't be. Delete air conditioning, stereo, seats, and the like, and then charge more. Makes no sense anywhere outside of Porsche.

Alveng -

To Kurt's point - there are several posts on pelican about the distinctions between the two models, but hope this info helps.

From the official 4-page Porsche brochure for the 1989 "911 25th Anniversary Special Edition":

- 500 U.S. market cars were produced to mark the 25th year of 911 production,
- 300 were coupes (240 in silver metallic and 60 in satin black metallic)
- 200 were cabriolet models (160 in silver, 40 in satin black)
- all cars had silk grey supple leather with black accent piping and silk grey velour carpeting
- all cars had body color Fuchs wheels in 6x16 and 8x16
- all cars had a stitched leather console with an outside temperature gauge and CD or cassette holder

PM me and I can provide other pics and info about the 1989 25th Anniversary model.

Hope this helps to clear up any confusion and to add to the archives!

Let me tell you that none of the numbers you wrote down is correct ... Things mostly did not went the way the broshures (printed before production started) show up ...

Car and Driver had a breakdown of the options on the new 918. The stripped down version cost $20,000 more, $20,000! Ridiculous. Only Porsche can get away with it.
