Default 1977 911S Targa value?

I am looking at a car for sale, and am wondering if it is a good deal. Car has 90xxx miles has no rust underneath whatsoever, but some bubbling up in the rear quarter area. Interior is well used. Car is black on black. Guy is asking 8k.

Sounds like an $8K car to me. Put $20K into it and it will become a $15K car.

Worth and what they are selling for are different things. May be a bubble and may not. I'm rolling the dice, how 'bout you?

I'm looking at a '77 911s targa as well - blue/grey on tan. 100k miles but doesn't run though it's been partially restored. Issue may be with batter/leads as it once ran perfectly. Question on the $8k value - was your car running? Was the engine upgraded to prevent overheating issues from the thermoreactors? The car I'm looking at had some engine upgrades but I can't verify everything and the owner is asking $9k....

the market has just gone crazy over the last two years .. even just the last year ... 9K sound slike a grabber if the basics check out .. i think you are going to hard pressed to find even a 74-77 under 15 these days.. its just nuts ... I was talking to a hagerty guy on the weekend and he was telling me air cooled Porsches are the hottest thing right now ... I went on our local craigslist ( kijiji ) and it seems more giys posting looking for cars than selling.

All that said though seriously look at the costs in putting it back together and get it running.

The car had updated studs and was re ringed about a year prior to me purchasing it. Was not running, but tracked the problem to some wiring issues and the fuel accumulator. Bought a super clutch kit from Pelican (alu pressure plate), that and the trans is bieng refreshed right now (and valve adjustment). Koni yellow adjustable shocks went in all around, a 22mm weltmeister swaybar in the rear and new bushings for the factory 20mm front bar too. She's coming along nicely. Lots of other things too like rear main seal, spark plugs, targa seals, good condition sport seats, ect.

All the chrome trim, wheels and targa hoop were blacked out. All are also being refinished. Pics to follow as soon as she is done! Maybe some teasers....

More teasers. One finished wheel, and freshly stripped top.
