Post Surging/Pulsing Lights?

Greetings,

I noticed while driving my '85 Carrera this evening that the interior lights (gauges, radio, switches, etc.) were changing in intensity, going between what seemed to be normal, and brighter, back and forth.

Could this be a sign of the alternator going bad, or could it be a simple relay that I can replace?

Thanks!

bizerk voltage regulator. very common with the carrera's 90A alternator. trouble is, you generally have to replace the alternator in the process, because the reg is attached to the rear of the alt, and the brushes in the reg carve deep grooves into the alt's commutator, which is too thin to machine.

Thanks John, I was afraid I'd have to replace the alternator. I replaced the alternator on my SC, and now the Carrera. Would you say the replacement is the same, less, or more difficult that the SC?
