Seriously, back in the day, greens, tans and browns were very popular, but not so popular today, so a lot of these cars were re-pained. Color is a personal choice, but with values on these cars spiraling, keeping the car it's original factory color will probably increase its collector appeal. This code is available on the trim tag.
If the original color is unappealing to you, repainting it another period factory color is probably the next best solution.... there are a great range of these to choose from. As long as the quality is there, it probably won't hurt the value much.

I really like Gulf Blue on a 70s or earlier. I saw a 70s Targa this weekend in Southampton, NY, that was actually Orange. That looked real sweet as well.
