Default Planning "Budget" Widebody Build - Help With Wheel Sizes on '82 SC

Don't let "budget" scare you, I just mean I don't have $3k to throw on wheels

The plan is to put the BetterBodies turbo flares on my SC, bolted for that cool GT2 look. The biggest issue I've had is finding the right wheels, and even finding the right measurements for what wheels I need, as I know that the non-turbo trailing arms are something like 1" shorter than the turbo ones.

I don't have the money for custom made 3 peices, so I have found some other good options for "normal" prices. Here is what I have so far. Please tell me if this is anywheres near correct as far as measurements and specs go...

Wheels, 18" (rear):

The offset is low to start out with, which is cool. The price is good. They are only 10.25 inches wide instead of 11, but I will be running an adapter obviously. The adapter is available in 15mm, 25mm (about 1 inch), and 35mm. http://www.urotuning.com/Wheel-Adapt...p/30295572.htm

Would running this wheel, a 305/30/18 tire, and 15mm adapter be just about perfect fitment on the rears?

The fronts would be similar with this wheel, a 15mm adapter, and 255/35/18. http://www.nlmotoring.com/XXR-969-Wh.../96988542f.htm

I would love to hear your thoughts to see if I'm anywhere on course. I want to do the flares, tires, and wheels all at once, as I hate having downtime with my cars. Thanks!

(This is another option, with 10.5 width and huge lip, which is a little more Porsche-like: http://www.nlmotoring.com/XXR-526-Wh...p/52680432.htm)

Personally I think when you get into 18 inch wheels you definitely begin to lose that Porsche classic look , but before i offend anyone that is just my opinion.

I have 17 inch wheels on my SC and that is about as big as I would go . I have stock SC flares with 7.5 on the front and 9 on the back .. et of 23 and 15 respectively .

With the added flares who knows .. i guess its all about the look you are trying to achive. the Turbo forum might be able to provide more info as they have much more flare than us

Understandable, but I'm going for a "low" kind of look, and having the flares, plus larger wheels, plus just a smidge lower ride height (I'm already at Euro ride), it should look perfect.... I think....

What size tires are you running on those wheels? Fuches or some other wheel?

What's the underlying rationale here? Cuz once you go beyond 17" overall, and about 275 wide, you're killing both the ride and handling. Having done 20-25 conversions back in the Olden Days (read: 16" wheels were state-of-the-art), the cars that deviated least from "ROW 930/M491 clone" were the most satisfying.

Doubly important now that the cars are worth Real Money, I don't see doing a widebody in non-steel. Unless, of course, you're building a race car to a set of rules.

This is going to be more of heavily track day oriented street car. Suspension settings will be changed later, so I don't necessarily care about ruining it.

From the cars I've seen with the same flares and 18's, I like them. It's not supposed to be a "replica", more of just a car for myself I may never sell.
