Default Dead battery trunk unlock

Anyone in the Bay Area , near walnut creek able to help with this problem? Can't open front trunk to charge or replac battery. Trying to avoid having cat towed and paying big bucks for something I should be able to fix myself. Not very handy but I did try hooking up battery charger to red trunk fuse but that did not work. Please help. Thanks

You Might try a back fed charger through the cigarette lighter. That's how the modern Porsche battery tenders work.

What year? My '88 has a simple pull-handle to open the trunk.

Is this a 996/997? Look in your owners manuals, it tells you how to do it with jumper cables. It's very easy.

There is a positive pole in the fuse box at your feet and use the door latch on the body for negative but read the owners manual first.

Must be a wasserpumper. If it is a 996, pull off the right front wheel and there should be a panel you can remove to access a cable that will open the trunk.

Regarding the charger, where did you hook up the ground?

My thoughts as well. Unlock door with key, reach under left side of dash and pull handle. Why has such a simple straight forward approach been designed away?

I know, I know, when the cable breaks you're screwed.

It's a 2001 boxster. Guess I will try removing the passenger side tire and see if I can find cable. Did the fuse thing and grounded on the metal door hinge.

Had this hassle with a buddies car that sat all year , the trick is you need to attach a 12 volt battery to the little red connections in the fuse panel...
A battery charger won't do it because the car senses to much juice and blocks the current
Ask me how I know haha good luck !

I have 2001 turbo, having problems getting frunk open, have removed fender liner from front drivers side and can see as the picture above there is not a cable. Is it possible the turbo does not have one or could it possibly be on passenger side?. Any help appreciated. Chuck

Hook jumpers to fuse panel… if the switch in the car doesn’t open the frunk… use the switch on the key. This worked for me years ago on a 997gt3

You will have better luck in the proper forum for that car. This thread should have been moved a long time ago.

Most of us here are simple folk with simpler cars. I myself can't even understand why there are motors inside the doors to make the windows go up and down, let alone why opening the front trunk could possibly be dependent on the battery.

Good luck getting it solved - I have been there with my less simple cars.

When just a cable would do, why the complication?
