Whats a good way to determine the value (and a good way to sell) a 1987 Porsche 911 Targa? The car has 240,000 miles on the chassis. The engine was rebuilt at 190,000 and second gear, like all cars of this age with the 915 transmission is not smooth to shift into. Shifting slowly its fine, or double clutching will allow for fast shifts. The car is in okay condition but the interior is a little worn and could use new carpet. Oh, and just recently the odometer stopped working... There is no rust. Color is midnight blue (looks like dark purple).

I would get the odo fixed for sure. Value will be all over the place. Pics might help. You could be looking in the low 20s I want to say, but pics would help. You should have details that you can document, such as who did the engine rebuild. If everything is great, you can add another 5K easy.

I have all the records of the maintenance and documentation of when the rebuild was done. It was a california car and some shop out there did it. We acquired it in a trade + cash probably almost 10 years ago. I will have to get the odometer out of the car and sent off for a rebuild.

Well there's you problem, you have a 915 transmission in an 87. :-)
Just joking folks. BTW, you should have G50 not a 915 unless you got the year incorrectly.
