Measuring Pinion Depth Using VW385 Tool - Help Pete!!!

Nordschleife Master
^ That is what we did earlier in the summer using the broken piece from my tool. It came out pretty good, but with pieces this small, you really need a scanner that has really good resolution. Now that we have a virgin piece, we're going to try again and see how close we can get.
And, I would love to find a way to take the 3D printer input data stream (the scan data and coordinates) and convert that into a CNC program so that a milling machine could make these in metal instead of plastic.

Time marches on...and now almost a year later we can in fact "print" such things in metal.

Hi All,
Did anyone succeed in manufacturing the VW385-1-3 plastic cams for the VW-385?
Also, I just purchased a used VW-385 gauge. How do I tell if my the plastic cam is broken?
Thanks,
Dennis

New VW385/1-3 Plastic cam
Hello, My VW385/1 broke the plastic cam so I had a number of the cams machined from aluminum. If you own one of these tools and want a cam to keep for when the stock plastic cam breaks I'm selling the part delivered to the US for $35.
