I have a 1975 body with a 3.2 engine & 915 transmission. My transmission is starting to grind 1-2 and down shifting 5-4. Almost forgot very very very hard to put it in 1st. What is the difference between the different year 915 transmission? How do I know what year trans I got? should I rebuild or get a used 80-86 915 transmission? Can I bolt on a 80-86, if I got a 75 trans? And what parts to i need? Your input will be greatly appreciated........

You might want to ask this question in the Pelican BBS...Ill bet you get some great responses there.
Have you tried replacing the clutch cable, adjusting the clutch...replacing shifter coupler/bushings and aligning the shifter yet? This can make a world of difference with a 915.

If I remember correctly....typically it's best to get it rebuilt, but I believe the trans in the '75 was magnesium and a trans in a 3.2 Carrera would be aluminum (cased). You might want to consider updating to a newer aluminum trans. The only problem is, just buying a used trans can give you the same problems you have now. The best idea would be to find a newly rebuilt aluminum cased trans to match your motor.
Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong!![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Can't help you on the specifics needed for the swap, sorry.

Never buy used. This is true for engines and transmissions. Either buy rebuilt with a warranty or rebuild what you have. Even if you pull and put back yourself, you want to spend two weekends pulling it again because you bought a bad used trans?
