Default Mazda oil cooler??

Hi everyone,

I need to mount an oil cooler in my 74 as I want to do more track work. I'm looking for a front mount cooler in the spoiler (not the fender mount) and I have found a Mazda cooler which fits in the spoiler.

I have heard that these are used by many 911 owners. Any feedback for me? They are much cheaper then the B&B etc. coolers.

What is the downside?

Thanks

As I recall, people who have used RX7 oil coolers have welded on AN16 fittings.

Bill, I think you are correct and that it is not usable without modification. What other suggestions do you have for front mount coolers?

I'm using a 20" B&B in my front valance. Works great(remember this is the only cooler in this car)! even w/ 3.8RS engine and very hot ambients, temps are ~80C

Bill,

Is AN12 OK to go with from a plumbing poing of view or is AN16 the way to go?

I prefer AN16 as it's closer to, maybe a hair larger, than the stock Porsche pipes, although some people do use AN12. When it comes to oil, I'd rather default higher than lower.
