Guys,
Has anyone bought/installed parts (fenders, bumpers, front hood, doors, etc.) from GT-Racing out of CO?
Working on a '88 conversion to an early long hood light weight car, and they have all the necessary parts there.
Most are available in fiberglass or carbon fiber. Any experience with either one?
How was the fitting, quality and durability?
Thank you!
Rodrigo.

The GT racing parts are made more for track applications that street, so it depends on what your intentions are when car is complete. For a street car I would stick with steel parts.

I used them for my RSR project... and the parts required a lot, and I mean A LOT of work... thickness of the parts varied, fitting was a bitch requiring cutting, slicing, bending, reshaping; right qtr panel was front a different mold that the left, requiring reshaping. These were all fiberglass parts...
I have read that parts from TRE seem to be better. But any FB part will require work to fit, do not go into this thinking it will be a bolt on affair...

I was lucky that a good friend found a guy that is an artist working fiber glass, or my car would still be in the garage in pieces...

I bought my ducktail from them and was in shock at first. Let's just say it gave me a new found respect for anyone that works with fiberglass. I agonized for months over that stupid part. I even called them and vented a bit. Very nice guy and all, I just expected perfection right out of the box. .....that, and I was trying to fit a part intended for a longhood coupe onto a shorthood cab.
I am sure the parts are fine in the grand scheme of things.

Thank you guys.
The light version is for street use, not track.
Tried to find some steel parts, but its hard.
Will appreciate any referrals.
Best,
R.

My project was for the track so .... However....
I have parts from Getty Design. No affiliation just a really happy costumer. I have their hood, f/r bumpers and front fenders all in f/g. The quality is outstanding and the fit fantastic. Not gonna say there was no shaping but minimal on most and all bolted right on.

The fit was so poor that my shop simply refused to even work with some of the parts. Quoted me a minimum of 40 hours just to fit the fenders. I sold it all at a loss and bought from TRE.

I am really glad I found your post Bola964! And, thank you to all the guys who responded to it. I was going to order all the body parts from GT racing to backdate my 86' Carrera to a ST. After reading what was said, I will contact TRE and Getty Design instead. It is a shame tough. I talked with Joel over at GT Racing, and he was very nice and helpful.

I've a Getty ducktail that I put on in one hour with a good fit. When I eventually had it painted 6 months later it took just a little bit of work for perfect fit lines/gaps at the window and sides.
Nice piece.

Joel is a great guy. I stopped by his place on a business trip to Colorado Springs... just that the parts are not bolt on.
TRE is a great alternative. Great bunch of guys as well. Dave has been very helpful with many of the questions I have had.
