"Red cars are difficult to sell."

Having said that there are plenty of reputable data points out there that can help. Its just never been easy to nudge a car from this distance.

I understand that and read a lot about it .. my point is to not to overprice it but also not to leave money on the table ...
the fine line in the middle ..
I have seen cars selling for 50 and 60k over the past months
so I was thinking mid 40ies with the mileage it has

Nobody can tell you what your car is worth. Not even if it were right in front of us. It could be anywhere from 20k to 60k depending on a huge number of factors. There are not enough 86 TL cabs out there to be able to establish any kind of market values for them.

There's only one thing you can do. Advertise it for sale at a price you hope to get and see if you get any response. If not, lower your price until you do.

Personally, I would estimate what it's worth if it were a regular cab, then add 20% for the TL.

$45-50k if nice. Turbo looks are commanding near 930 prices and cabs carry a premium if the car is sorted and the top is nice.

Hi. As a TL owner I'm amazed at these recent asking prices.
Does someone have any examples of real world selling prices?

I'm not thinking of selling my car, just curious if they're really fetching near 930-level prices

TIA

I can't answer this specifically, but can share my experience. Don't want to sound like a jerk but could certainly swing a 930 financially.

Yet - and I know others will have a totally different opinion - my need for 'fast' is satisfied by other cars and the added complexities/heat/characteristics of the 930 reduced its appeal. But man, what a gorgeous car! That forced me to look for and purchase a M491. I don't regret that decision one single bit, and know this was right for me.

They may not ever eclipse the 930 in price pecking order, but there's no denying the overall appeal is very close, or exceeds in some instances.

my .02 is that to a new buyer, the old Porsche market is complicated. years, models, changes etc and the turbo look is a footnote.
Youll probably get buyers thinking its a cheap turbo when it turns up in searches for "turbo" and a quick pick at body style will confirm it causing confusion. And you will also get N/A fans who wonder why its so expensive relative to other not understanding M491. They wont believe your explanation that its special. they're ALL special.
If I were you id advertise in Panorama. Readers will be well aware of what it is and why its special. Craigslist/Ebay not so much. Id say the same about a RUF, 951, 505 - sell to the educated.

I hope that helps.
