Looking to convert from a '87 944 owner to 87-89 911 owner when I find the right one.
Looking to go open air, just not sure if it will be Cab or Targa.
Would love to hear from owners of each (or both) for your comments, comparisons, etc.
This is a weekend/fun car, and have two young kids (5 and 8) that will take short trips around town on the weekends in nice weather.
Also, not sure of time/effort to put on/take off Targa top vs. Cab and would like to hear more about that.
Thank you!

I dont think you could go wrong with either.... there seems to be a lot more targas on the market and thats good for a buyer. There is an argument that targas are stiffer chassis wise... I dont think so though, to me they are about the same. I went with the targa because of how it looked. ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
The tops take a couple of minutes to put on and off... and can be folded to keep in thee frunk.

I loved having my 85 cab. The open air feeling with the top down cannot be duplicated in a targa. Also, if you are lazy, you can leave the top up, drop the windows and unzip the rear window. Lots of air will flow through your car and you hear that marvelous engine.

As a targa owner i can tell its very Nice to drive. With a bit of practise you can remove the top within 30 sec. I like the looks of the targa a bit more, cause the cabriolet the roof is just on top of the car when open. Porsche sorted that out with the 996.

Thanks everyone for your feedback....
I have a dumb question....are the backseats still usable with the top down in the cab? I wasn't sure if the snap on cover somehow impedes with the use of the back seats?
Thanks

I think a Targa looks best with the roof off. The SWT which has now reached unobtanium prices is the best looking of all.
Flip a coin, can't really go wrong but were it my decision it would be a Cab with the top down and the boot on.

Darn, news to me, but everyone else probably knows... shoulder belts for the rear seats were only in 88+ Targa, but didn't make it in the 88-89 Cab. Probably would be a little uncomfortable with kids in the back in a cab with lap belts only.
