Angry cloudy flat paint after waxing?

I used Megjuiars swirl remover on my black paint. It left foggy areas all over the whole car and the whole hood paint looks flat when viewed at angles. I used a applicator pad and my hands, no buffer. Looked great in the shade so I then waxed the whole car. In the sun now it looks terrible. What happened and how do I fix it?

Try looking on autopia.org. It's a good place for all your detailing tips.

Mequiars is NOT good for Porsches.
You are going to get a wide range of suggestions about your problem, I am a retired Porsche Detailer, I only do Porsches and have fought this problem on Black.I am going to recommend two different products that will solve your problem. Griots Fine Hand Polish followed with their Best of Show Wax.www.griotsgarage.com
This is my first choice cause I feel it works the best on Porsches.
If you do not want to go this route my second choice is
3M Imperial Hand Glaze followed with One Grand Blitz Wax
www.carcareonline.com ( Very Good Site for Info )
The "trick" for Black is to have 100% cotton towels ( Wal-Mart Auto Care section) and use fresh areas on the towels every couple of wipes, in short... use lots of towels.Their are other Products that will get the job done, These are the two I have the most experience with and that I know will work.Alot has to do with the towels and how you use them.
I hope this is of some help and Good Luck !

I agree with Chuck on using Griot's Garage products. I think I've tried all the other stuff out there and Griot's is the best. I and others that I know of had similar problems with Zymol clouding the paint. IMO Zymol is crap!
Try using the GG polish and wax, I think you'll be impressed with how easy it is and how long it lasts.
No affiliation with GG just very satisfied customer.

Did you by any chance buff off the compounds with towels dried using fabric softener sheets. When my wife washes my car towels and dries them with bounce sheets - I have problems with removing compounds and waxes.

Not sure if that is your problem but its a good idea to not use the dryer sheets on your car towels.

Thanks for the tips, I did use fabric softener sheats on the towels. I'll order some Griot's. Can I do this by hand or am I into a power buffer problem.

Good news is it sounds like I didn't damage anything, just crappy turnout?

Do it by hand !!
I am not a big fan of the power buffers.
I am sure that they are superior to the hand method... HOWEVER,
there is a learning curve involved that could be damaging to the car.
Richard at Griots swears by his buffer and says it is impossible to damage
your car and he could be right but the cost of the buffer is a bit much for me to do one car. I need the workout anyway !

Actually, the Porter Cable random orbital buffer works wonders on Porsche paint. It's virtually idiot-proof, and it produces spectacular results. I use it in conjunction with products from www.properautocare.com..

Coastal Tools has a good package deal on the polisher, and Proper Auto Care sells pads and bonnets.
