Hello! My name is Nate. I work at a small engineering firm in Cleveland and am working on a project for my boss who is quite the avid Porsche enthusiast.
I created and account to ask a question about an oil line fitting that that I need to source.
I am looking for this exact nut from the kit
http://www.elephantracing.com/oilhan...911tubenut.htm
However, $50 is a little steep and the other 2 parts are unnecessary.
Does anyone know if that is a standard pipe thread spec that I can look for? My boss said he had found the nut on a German site quite some time ago but was not sure where to find it.
Thank you in advance! please let me know anything that might be helpful!

Well I think if it were available anywhere else cheaper it wouldnt be this price ..
Can you not get access to an old oil line and check the threads.. Maybe see if you can dig up the threads of the actual oil line.
Also i dont understand how you dont need the other parts .. the nut has to be large enough to go over the flaired oil line , then the other part slips on the line and goes under the nut so it doesnt slip back off as the nut can not be put on any other way .. I think it is a well engineered solution that is worth 50 bucks ..

Chips:
There's a small nut & bolt (std. & metric) company in the south part of Canton, Ohio that may have
the nut. The company is called Zeigler Nut & bolt Co. (?) and it's visible from I-77 just south of RT. 30....

looks like a very specific piece for a one use item. Doubt you'll find an off the shelf that will fit snug enough for an oil line.
You have to figure they make this for a one shot application so don't sell many....not exactly going to recoup there investment by thousands sold.

Thanks for the help everyone
I guess I should have been a little more specific with my intentions. This is for a custom job we are working on in our shop (turning new fittings, bending pipe) so this nut is really the only thing we can not reliably produce here. I will look into that small nut & bolt company in canton.
Wildcat, you say that the thread is French. What standard are they using compared to a regular metric spec?

You might want to get in contact with Len Cummings ( Boxster GT ) on Pelican or email him at autosportengineering.com,he's the guru where it comes to fittings and lines !
Friend of mine had some oil lines made locally and he was told they were some sort of french threads, most likely some kind of Metric variation.
Cheers

Thanks guys!
I have contacted Len Cummings and he has kindly replied that he will contact me back in a few days when he gets an email from his supplier. I believe he is looking for similar parts.
