I ordered the diode today. Will let you know what happens. Given my luck with these things, it will turn out to be something else.

Anyway, how does one remove the diode? Is it simply unplug the old at both ends and plug in the new?

Savantauto, you are correct you just unplug at both ends. It's recommended to disconnect the battery first before you start poking around too much under there.

You can also just remove the diode and reconnect the wires, the ends are (1) male and (1) female spade lugs. If the lights work than that was your problem.

Repo_man, I reconnected the wires, but I had 3 of them. I am confused. Did I disconnect the wrong diode?

It's a straight-thru device with two connections. I can't remember, maybe the wire immediately splits into two at one end to feed something else, could that be the three wires you are seeing?

That is the one that I may try, but only if I can find one for a lot less money.


The pic I attached is the one I found that worked, it is a 928 part number. (Hard to get a good pic under the dash while in the garage.) The actual diode is potted in the black cylinder the clear ends provide insulation for the connectors, the one in your car should have the clear ends but a slimmer black middle section.

I spoke with EuroWerks today. It looks like the previous owner did a **** poor job installing an aftermarket alarm system, and this is where the problem is originating from. They are fixing it since this is way out of my comfort zone.

Disconnected the diode and connected the wires directly. Lights are now on.
