Default Carrera 3.0 Series references

I show the Carrera 3.0 predominately a 'J' series. I have seen it referenced as an 'I' series as well. Is this possibly correct or is the 'I' series a mistake?

I and J series are part of the 83/84-89 3.2 Carrera cars, as are the E, F, G, H, AND K series. That's what my book says but the 2.7 cars also had G and H series cars. Not even sure how it all breaks down. Why are you interested?

Default J & I Series-es noted for the C3

Well, first thanks for responding> Charles, while viewing some posts from sites I go after all the time because I now am the administrator to the Carrera 3.0 Registry & site for North America, hosted by PCA, I want, NO, need to know!!
Charles, I've found what you'd noted, my 77 is classified as a 'J' series. I thought, but only thought the 'J' series was for both the 76 & 77. I'm open for all the help & correct information I can get because I'm sure, I'm going to be asked ???'s!
I still don't know if 'I' is a correct series designation?

never understood the letter designation... is that how the factory designated 911's. Those Germans' need to work on this, kinda like the 991, what happens after 992? They're nuts!
