Default Fix Repair Seat Belt Buckle

Here's a quick write-up of how to assemble/disassemble a Porsche Seat Belt Buckle.

I had a buckle that got jammed and I couldn't find any write-ups on taking them apart
and fixing them, so here you go.

I hope it helps somebody!

As always, like if you work on your brakes, etc., know what you are doing.

The way the buckle works is when you slide the seat belt tongue into the buckle,
the tongue of the belt pushes in on a plastic bushing inserted into a big spring.
This spring then compresses as the tongue is pushed in and when the hole in the
seat belt tongue gets to the spring-loaded "cam," the cam is forced by it's own
spring into the hole in the seat belt tongue, thereby securing the tongue.

When you press the red release on the buckle, it slides down against it's own
two springs and releases the cam such that when the seat belt tongue is
pulled out it pushes the cam out of the way. The cam then stays out of the way
until the next time the seat belt tongue is inserted.

1) Disassemble the buckle. The outer plastic clam shell is glued together,
I opened mine by inserting a screwdriver as shown and carefully prying
the halves of the clam shell apart.

2) Disassemble/assemble the mechanicals.

***There are 4 springs involved so be careful that nothing goes "boing!"
and disappears into a corner of the garage never to be heard from again.

Mine went "Boing!" when I cracked open the clamshell, so I had to put it all
back together by trial-and-error.***

a) Gently pry the red plastic slide out of where it inserts into white plastic cam holder.
b) Gently pry the cam holder off the metal receiver.
c) Remove cam, noting which direction the sloped part of the cam faces
(Rearward. It matches the slope of it's spot in the metal receiver)
d) Remove large spring and it's plastic bushing.

Assembly is the reverse.
