Default How to fix small crack in dash?

Hi all,

I have a small crack in my dash. Otherwise it is perfect. I'd like to prevent the crack from getting larger if possible. Are there any products out that will help?

thanks,

Jim

There is a flexible putty that is used - sort of like Bondo but flexible. Dunno the name or brands, but a supply house for body shops should know.

I didn't read the info in the link above, but here is what I did on the recommendation of some concours guys and may/may not work depending on the severity of the crack. Mine was only about an inch long from the windshield vent extending rearward towards the driver.

Drill a tiny hole at the end of the crack to help stop it from growing.

Get a small can of matching surflex dye, pour some in a cup and let it dry to the point it becomes thick.

Fill the crack with the dye and allow to dry... it may take several applications to fill.

Lightly sand. Be careful to not sand away the texture of the dash, just level the filled area.
