After looking for a 911 for two years, and really seriously searching for the last 3 months, I'm back in a Porsche.....last week I pulled the trigger on a new to me 86 911!
Very thankful for my lovely wife who encouraged me to get another 911 (I suspect she tired of the constant 911 talk)
I have not had time to detail her and take pictures yet(the car, not my wife
), so these are courtesy of the previous owner.
Some info:
1986
97K Miles
Meteor Metallic with burgundy interior.
Complete engine rebuild to the tune of $12K about 8K miles ago.
Interior is very clean. Seats look brand new underneath the sheepskins
Pretty much all original, except for a new stereo and partial repaint.
California Bay Area car since new. I bought the car from the second owner who has owned it since 1988 and 2K miles. I have every single service record since new in a large binder. The car has been very well taken care of and serviced religiously. The last 10 years, RMG in Sunnyvale has been servicing the car and they told me the PO basically gave them an open check book every time to do whatever they deemed necessary.
Took her for a long drive today and what a pleasure! I love the rawness and tight, precise handling.

Thanks all for the nice comments. I'm really excited to be back in a 911 and here on Rennlist.
Thanks Steve. Wife is definitely a keeper :-)
Agree on the seat covers but they are warm and comfy in the cold California winter. Will find another solution in the spring.
Seats look brand new, like they haven't been used. I'll take the covers off and snap some pics later.
996 is long forgotten
Nice car but the older 911 is much more fun.

Hey, thanks Ferdinand! I did peek at your car before and love it! I only now noticed you have a duck tail on it. Love it! Can you please post some more pics of it? I was thinking of putting on a duck tail too just for fun. (of course keep all the original parts for later). Where did you get your tail?

Fun huh? Just got done with another long drive in my '83 SC.
The older P cars are just magnificent when it comes to communication and tactile enjoyment. I've driven Maserati's, Ferrari's, Jaguars and others from the same period and nothing comes close.
I do wish I'd kept the 3500 GTI tho.
