Default Interior lamp problem

Thanks in advance for your help. I am now working on fixing the little things on my 1986 930. The interior lamps will not light. I have seen photos of the wiring but now cannot locate them. The black (hot) wires are not hot. When I run a wire directly to the lamp they work. The problem seems to be getting power to them. From the passenger side (right-US) the black wire seems to run forward. How do I trace that wire and re-connect it to power? At least then the passenger side will work. The glove box light and front hood light work properly. I don't have a clock, I have a full size turbo boost gauge instead. If I can get the power to the light then I can work on getting the door switches (ground) to work, but for now, manually switching it is okay. Thanks again for having a great forum!

Hi 930 lover

your question is not Turbo specific so we may be able to help you but just be aware there is a dedicated 930 forum ( 911 turbo ) . may be helpfull if you want to keep all your posts on one forum.

I think you are going to need a schematic to help you out for your car . because the clock has been removed all bets are off .. we dont know where the distribution point is for all of your power.

I have a 78 Targa so dont have nay lights beyond the one dome light . do you have more lights than this ?

Thanks Iceman. I have seen the schematics but its the routing of the wires I'm looking for. Specifically the black wire that comes forward from the passenger side lamp. If I can locate it under the dash, or in front of the firewall on that side I can see if its disconnected or cut. I could also run a new wire if I could fish it through the pillar.

Try a new lamp, if I remember correctly I had a similar issues years ago, replaced them and they worked.

Thanks. The lamp is fine. It works when I bring power to it by a separate wire. The bulb is fine. I just need to figure out how to get power to it.
