Leaking windshield seal; question

After a search I have concluded that I likely have a leaking windshield seal on my 1985 911. The search made clear that it is very important to use a genuine Porsche seal. My question is: if I obtain the seal from the dealer, is the replacement of the seal a job that should be within the competence of an ordinary windshield replacement shop?
Or should I take it to the dealer (who will probably use an outside person, but probably someone experienced with Porsches)?
Thanks, Mike

hell its even within the skill level of the average home mechanic. you absolutely should not do this at a stealer.
personally i would do it myself or give a glass shop cash on the side. i have done this many times

I recently had a local (recommended) glass shop replace my windshield seal. They would not guarantee against w/s damage on removal however. It all went quite smoothly as the glass popped right out and, in my case the radio antenna lead had to be disconnected also. I sourced a new seal from the local Porsche dealer and all went fine.

Great information! One additional question: in the YouTube video it appears that there may be two seals: one seal on the "A" pillar, and another seal which goes entirely around the windshield. Should I get two seals?

Thanks for the help, guys. I went ahead and purchased the seal at the dealer and had it installed by a local windshield shop and no more leaks. Thanks again, Mike
