Default 964 motor in 911, seeking advice

I am seriously playing with the idea of putting a 964 engine in my 87. I have a lead on an (expensive) rebuild engine and am currently checking the legal implications over here. Now with the G50 it requires a single-mass flywheel, much lighter than the heavy dual-mass flywheel of the 964. Of course this will make the engine to rev easier. But what are about negative side effects? I live in Munich so I cannot avoid stop-and-go traffic. I want to drive my car to work once in a while, not always racing on back roads. The shop I would work with does not have a clear opinion but issued a warning. Anybody has experience with such a conversion and is not just using it on the track?

I put a 964 engine in my '76 C3, it ran and looked like the factory did it

the biggest issue was routing the heat which was solved w/ a custom set of headers that have 964 heat in and 911 heat out

There may be a stipulation by the authorities over there to make the car meet emission regs of the
engine instead of the chassis year that's likely what they were complaining about.
I doubt in all seriousness that that is the issue but why not check the transportation office registration
requirments for a conversion as such before taking the leap.
Other than that its a wonderful thing torque and throttle response who would of thought? Bert

I've installed a 95 3.6 in my 89 over the Summer ... Patrick lightweight flywheel,KEP lightweight pressure plate and custom SW chip with no ill effects whatsoever.Idle is perfect,no stalling issues, very happy with the extra torque and HP,especially since i removed 300 + lbs from the car as well !

Go for it !!!

Cheers
Phil
