Service Manuals for a '77' Carrera 3.0
I posted this last night, but it was not up on the server this morning. I saw a set of OEM Porsche Service manuals for sale. I have a euro '77' Carrera 3.0. Could anyone tell me if the USA shop manuals from the factory included service data on my car. I know this car was never officially imported to the states, and I believe that England got the 2.7 (911S, 911 Lux) for 76-77 as well. What's a fair price to pay if my model (930-02) is included?
Thanks,
Bob

PS: Hopefully I uploaded this '73 RSR' correctly, Taken last month at a historic rally in Rosenheim, Germany.
Thanks,
Bob

ID'ing a 'Euro' Carrera
The easiest way to ID a Euro Carrera is by looking at your Vin#. For 1976 a 3.0 Carrera, the correct VIN should be between these #'s. 9116600001 and 9116601093 for a coupe . Stamped on your engine block should be a 'J' followed by 6660001-6661385. The fifth number of your VIN should be a '6' for the new '930-02' engine type, the '6' indicating a 3.0 liter 'Euro' 'Carrera' rated at 200 HP. The engine block should be made of aluminum, the US model '911S' were 2.7 liter, rated at 165 HP, still made from magneseum. Hope this helps. Enjoy the 3.0 Carrera, it's a real sleeper, and not many around.

The 911 Carrera 3.0 litres are all ROW versions. They were only initially sold into the local mainland European market but some have found their way to the UK and even NZ. They were never officially sold in the USA.
The 911 shop manual 1972 to 1981 covers only a little bit of the Carrera 3.0 litre. I am afraid you need a German language manual to cover it properly. I am sure these manuals were never translated. No need to. The 911 manual in English only covers the US versions with some technical data references to the 911 Carrera 3.0 litre.

Knowledge is power
Thanks Adrian,
For the heads-up on the OEM service manuals. I could have wasted a lot of money on something I wasn't able to use. It took me two months to get the correct OEM '3.0 Carrera' owners manual from Zentrum Porsche in Rosenheim. Since only 3000 '930-02's' were built between 76-77, I wonder how many survived, and is there a '3.0 Carrera' Registry ? I've read a number of books looking for information on these evolutionary Porsche's, but not much detailed information out there. i'm sure the new model '930-02' caused a sensation, but the mighty 'turbo' stole it's thunder. A simple twist of fate....
