awesome car! I wonder though, why the owner wouldn't just replace the few small items that are broken... it makes me wonder about his financial situation and what else he "went cheap" on in the past couple years... hmm

ok is it just me or does that interior look a lot more worn than 50k miles.

also the wording is strange. po had it converted to ruf.

i thought ruf bought the bodies from porsche and made their own cars to sell. thats they are listed as a manufacturer.
guess the vin would tell you a lot. maybe a nice turbo with some ruf parts ?

or maybe completely legit, who knows

There are probably 3-4-5-100(?)X Ruf conversion cars out there v. Ruf vin'd ones. And then you've got the cars which were fully converted, having been shipped to the factory as used cars. Further, some were converted by shipping Ruf guys + parts to convert the cars on location.

Why is it that everyone confuses this so? All Ruf cars prior to 90 or 91 were conversions, either by a authorized Ruf distributor or at Ruf in Germany.

They did not begin to receive "bodies in white" from Porsche until the 964 series cars at which time they had received full TUV certification as a manufacturer.

Ruf techs and parts were shipped over (as Race911 stated) depending on the level of conversion of a particular order. The car offered for sale appears to be a basic "off the shelf" conversion.

I don't trust anyone that claims their car is RUF. Wheels do not make it so. Show me the invoice.

Default RUF factory built cars with RUF VIN "bodies in white"

To be accurate there were RUF cars produced by the RUF factory as new cars from "bodies in white" with RUF VIN numbers before 1990. I currently own three of them-

1986 RUF 930 BTR
1987 RUF 930 BTR Lightweight
1990 RUF 930 BTR III (produced 1989 but invoiced and titled by RUF factory as 1990 model)

The vast majority of "RUF" cars were converted or modified as used cars by RUF distributors, dealers, individuals and by RUF themselves. The true "body in white" RUF produced VIN cars are very rare and generally considered by most to be the most desirable/valuable.

Thanks Ray Joseph
