Default 85 turbo look targa value

Posted this question on a recent thread about M491 cars. What do you think would be a fair price on a 1985 one owner, unmolested , dealer maintained, factory original with 100k miles on it? The car is unblemished with a small crack in the dash, reconditioned targa top. Thanks for your input. Mike

The one in the picture also has spoiler delete option so it's worth more. My guess is in the $25,000-$30,000 range if it's all in working order. And color combo matters!

I remember seeing a few M491 cars in the for sale section on Pelican Parts. I would see if those have sold and use that pricing as a benchmark.

The summer/fall 2013 edition of Sports Car Market magazine's price guide gives a low/high range, for a FACTORY M 491 (Turbo-look) '85 Carrera Targa as $22K - $24K. This indicates a condition #2 car, with good paint & interior, few flaws and correct equipment.

I'd check the option code on the car first before jumping to any conclusions.

There is a "garnet red" 85 targa on Pelican that is firm at $35k. That car was from Hawaii and it needs a lot of work. I know it had a cracked rear trailing arm (I think it was the right side), a bunch of engine leaks, non op ac. The car was a paint to sample car and was repainted in garnet red. If you look at the car, there are some scrapes on the paint and dents. You will see the true color underneath the paint and if you pull the trunk carpet. The repaint is a little off the original color. The car also spent time in Texas and the interior has shrunk, so you'll need to reupholster the entire interior.

That's about all I can remember right now. That and the seller paid $18k for the car, two rear tires (car had turbo twists, now replaced with polished Fuchs), plus shipping to CA.
