Default VIN Number Engine Number question

I have a 911 with VIN Number of 91133017XX (not really X's) I believe this to be a 1973 911S Coupe.
When I check the Fahrzeugidentifikation website the range of numbers for 73 911S is 9113300001-9113301430 which is under my last four digits of 17XX.
My engine number is 6131104 which possibly is in the 911T range but I can't find that number on the list either. Can anyone help me confirm these numbers as I don't see either of them matching up on sites I have checked? THANKS!!

VIN:
911 = 911 model
3 = 1973
3 = 911S
0 = Coupe
17xx = Consecutive build number

6131104:
6 = 6 cyl engine
1 = 911T
3 = 1973
1104 = Consecutive build number

It appears that your engine is an early '73 T fitted with Mechanical FI. If you can remove the air filter housing and post the Bosch number that is found on a small metal plate attached to the top of the MFI pump, we can further define what you have. Also, if possible, you can remove the left, upper, rocker arm cover and check, using a dial indicator, your camshaft timing.

Thanks Mr. Zimmerman. Should I be concerned that my last three numbers of the VIN seem to fall outside of some published ranges I've seen?

It is odd. If the 7th digit was a zero, you would be golden. If the 5th digit was a "5" (RoW T w/carbs) you would also be OK. Unfortunately, the Porsche Spec book does not show end of range numbers, and I'm limited to the number "1430" for "S" coupes that's listed in "Porsche 911 - Forever Young" by T. Aichele.

What fuel system does the engine have?

Is the car in your possession? If not, can you get a high-res photo of a VIN tag/plate?

Hi Peter,

I realize this is from quite awhile ago, but it seems like you know what our talking about when it comes to VIN #. I recently purchased a 2012 4gts. I never paid any attention to the VIN except for when i was looking up it's history. I took it in to our local Porsche dealer, and the service manager takes a look at it and comments that the last 3 digits are 911. He says he's never seen that before. It never even crossed my mind before he said it. I am curious if this is anything or just a coincidence?
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Trevor
