Default Thoughts on headers/SSI's

Throwing out a thought I had today.
I was buying some header wrap for a hot rod SBC...besides keeping the engine bay cooler keeping all of the heat in the exhaust pipe keeps the speed of evacuation more efficient.
So driving home in the SC I'm thinking about the Porsche heat exchangers/headers originally designed and built by Porsche and continued by SSI.
Wondering if the heat exchanger covering has a similar effect by keeping extra heat enveloped around the header element...a heat insulation.
Pete? Anyone?

A forced air heat exchanger is not designed to discourage thermal conductivity.
