One of the weaker parts designed on the Porsche 911 is the door and its door stay. The door and the door stay mechanism have a tendency to tear and rip the sheet metal inside the door. Luckily, there is a reinforcement kit that will save the door most of the time, although some 911 doors can get pretty beat up in the process.
After seeing the damage done to the door of Wayne's 911SC, we recommend that everyone install the door stay reinforcement kit on both the passenger and driver’s side door. If the door becomes severely damaged, it may not be possible to repair it. The internal piece of supporting metal that holds the door stay together is welded inside the door. The process of welding deep inside the door is not an easy one, and if the damage is severe, then there isn’t anything that can be done to fix it. The best solution might be to scrap the door. Considering that, the reinforcement kits are good insurance.

I need the door pin removal tool (Porsche tool P290b) and (290a). Since you might be offering.
And the new door stays are far too aggressive. You have to file down the plastic detent or you'll rip the door metal even more.

Russ.
I found it very aggressive too and for a week or two I was terrified opening and closing my door. After that it was great though and 5 years later it is still great
Coincidentally I just recommended this to two guys this week as I could tell their doors were due.
