They decided that Porsche spare parts should generally start with the 9XX to clear the 3XX 4XX, 5XX, 6XX, 7XX spare parts # Porsche allready had spread into the VW sparepartsystem due there usage from the construction# as starting number for the spare parts as well. For example the T6 356 version was a 644#. The 356 follow up startet life as type 695 and was named 901 in mid 1963.
In the 60´s also Porsche splitet the inhouse and external development#. The 924 startet life as EA 425.
