Default I Have An Idea...Where Is It Now?

Have you ever wondered what happened to a car that you used to own, and if it no longer exists, or sits in a dark corner of a neighbor's garage? If you know of a detail that might reveal a car's whereabouts, such as its VIN, or engine type, post it and let's see if we can find a car! If you heard about a rumor regarding the car, post that as well.

I'll start. I wonder what happened to my white/black 1958 Porsche Speedster, VIN 84811, that I last saw in 1971. RUMOR: Someone told me that they had heard that the car was seen, in about 1973, in the San Fernando Valley part of SoCal, and had been painted lime green.

Five of my favorites that I sold decades ago that I'd love to know if they are still on the road:

1965 356C - 131853 (Signal Red) RHD, I think it is Australia now

1966 912 - 453551 (originally Slate Gray, was black when I sold it. Red interior)

1971 911T - 9111121284 (Signal Orange)

1972 911E - 9112200890 (Silver)

1974 911 - 9114103470 (Peru Red)

91 964 turbo - Very low mileage car last seen at TruSpeed a couple years ago.

OK, I'll jump in on this.

1970 914-6 VIN 9140430225; Signal Orange. Last known whereabouts Apple Valley, MN (where the guy I sold it to in 1989 lived) in August 1989. Guy was a dentist; all I remember about him.

1965 356C #219818. Karmann body, Irish Green with tan interior.

I'm in, though I know. I had a nice 1970 911T targa driver as my first 911. Sold it back in 2008 to put some needed money into my business. Got $9k+ for it right before the economy crashed.

Went to a place called Seeland Klassische Porsche in Europe. I figured they would restore it. I never had idea to what standard. About 2 years went by and then a gentleman in Berlin emails me one day and says he believes that he has just purchased a vehicle previously owned by me. Bare metal restoration. It was blue and had been repainted 3 times when I owned it. Rebuilt everything. The Berliner paid 55k Euro for it in 2010.

Wow, what a cool story. Is the orange/gold car in the link your old blue car? I can't read the language, but I think that it says it has the "S" option package, which, looking at the bumper trim, it does!

Yes, that's my old car, and yes it did have the S option package. It was on it when I bought and my COA said it was original.

Wow, this thread is a great idea. I have been totally missing my 79 911SC, VIN 9119200960 Found the VIN on another site where someone was inquiring about it. I posted that I could tell them a bunch of the cars history, but never heard back from them.

I was happy to know it is still on the road and still in Sunny San Diego.

Missing my first 911 - a beater of a 79SC Targa. It kind of ran on only 4.5 cylinders, but I got my money's worth! So much fun. Glad to hear that you found yours...

Great thread.
