Default Carrera tail and decklid for sale or trade. Taking her back to no tail. Need advice

I have a Carrera tail on my 1988 Coupe that was added at some point in its life. I am looking to take the car back to original with no tail .

I am looking for easiest/cheapest route to do this. I know I don't want to keep the tail as I will never re-install it.

My first thought was to keep my decklid (and sell the tail) and have holes welded shut then repaint. That way I can keep all the original stickers, etc.

Body shop guy is telling me to look for a good used decklid instead so I don't have to go through process of welding the 5 holes shut. Then sell my decklid and whale tail.

I'm sure many have you have gone through this same process so looking for some guidance on path of least resistance

If someone has a good decklid with grill and Carrera emblem and wants to trade with me or sell please let me know.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Also I am in the SF Bay Area if anyone has a body/paint shop shop that you used for this type job and can recommend

Decklids are always on craigslist for $100 -$200 and your paint will be easy to match.

Other than the 5 or 6 spall hoses to attach the emblem, no difference

The Carrera script does not use holes like the earlier P O R S C H E script.

Is your 3rd brake light behind the glass, on the tail, or deleted?

Selling your entire tail will also be easier, than just a wing.
