'83 Slant Nose Conversion Opinion
I was really in the market for an '87-'89 911, but happened upon this '83 Slant Nose conversion and wanted to get your opinion on what you think of this style of car.
This conversion is an all steel conversion done in Germany and imported here in '90, looks good and solid but can't tell it was a factory conversion or not. Other wise stock engine, AC unit out. Body, paint and interior is immaculate and looks pretty stunning.
So what do you think? A waste of a good car, flashingly gaudy or stunningly cool?

Very cool indeed as long as it was done correctly. Have an experienced Porsche body shop look at it. Got a 85 slant coming later in the year. GL.

I think it looks great.
And the missing AC is not an issue around here (I'm 2 miles up the 101 from you). I took mine out early on to make valve adjustments, etc. easier, and rarely wish I had it still in there.

I have no idea what planet a slope conversion with that mileage trades for mid-$20's, but if that's current market I'll go crawl back into my hole.
I was told there was something about the front bumper and lower spoiler how they protrude over the other, I forget now, I was looking at this one and it says they have a certificate of authenticity on it, do you think this is a real one? I was also told to watch out for conversions , something about what they had to cut because of the fenders? im not sure now, it;s been a while
thanks!
thanks!
Well, what you have to cut is the quarters so you can weld the flare on. And then cut into that for the venting. Not terribly difficult, just take your time. Biggest hassle was the usual POS front fender fitting (mine were always sourced from Mexico via a guy I met whose brother-in-law had a steel stamping factory), and getting the headlight doors correct.
??? Round trip on the compressor during a valve adjustment is 5-7 minutes.

I've come back around to disliking the slope nose. It really screws up the lines. Love the rear break ducts, but think the front fenders are a total misfit for the car....and to think of all the added weight involved just totally kills if for me.....so Ed is right, Douglas would be drooling all over this one...but not anymore.
