Default Momo Installed!

I've been acquiring the goods for various projects for some time now and am finally getting around to doing some of them! Today was the install of my momo wheel. While I had the steering wheel off I also removed the tach to be sent down to North Hollywood instruments (it stopped working after a voltage regulator failure).

They don't make it simple to get at the 27mm nut holding the stock wheel on as it's off-center with the access hole! Perhaps it's easier using a reducer and then a 3/8" flex extension instead of the 1/2" for more room? Anyway, this worked well... was also nice to have a friend to hold the wheel to avoid putting stress on the locking mechanism.

Overall was an easy and fun little project, and very rewarding - I love the look and feel of the new wheel!

As you can see from the last pic my next project is the door speakers. Nothing over-the-top, but the grills of the originals had cracked, so obviously I needed new speakers too.... found some very nice Alpine's in the stock size that come with simple black grills. Should retain a fairly stock look but with better sound quality!

Thanks for the idea ice! I hadn't thought of that but if they're in there anyway....

I guess then you just wire in parallel to the battery and route it through to the back of the tach?

Those do look great! Not sure about the white face as I'm only sending the tach down and want to keep the look consistent with the rest of the gauges, but I am definitely going to see about getting the VM installed and the numbers rotated!

Are those "pads" at 10 and 2 o'clock the horn buttons as well as the center horn button?

My original Monterey blows compared to today's standards. However, it adds so much character to the interior and takes so much away when replaced.
