Question Brake lights out of order

The brake lights (3 of them) of my 87 carrera cabriolet stopped working all at once. I checked the fuses and the bulbs and they are find.
Could anyone tell me where to look to fix this problem.

If all else checked ,OK. I would start looking for a ground problem. I am not to familiar with your particular model, but from experence I know that grounds on these cars are critical. I have also found that alot of these electrical items are grounded in sequence.

Following Gregs lead. Go to the stop light switch on the master cylinder. Pull the wire off and ground it. Lights should come on if the wiring is good. Then the $10 switch is bad. Easy Fix. On your car I can't tell you which switch is which. You should have 2. One for lights, one for warning light.

Good Luck

grounding it won't work. there are 2 brake switches on the master cylinder. (77 on) there are 3 wires in each plug attached to them. both switches work in tandem. the center wire in each plug works the light on the dash. with the key on, remove one of the plugs and jump the 2 outside terminals together to make the lights come on. on 76 and earlier cars, the switch is a microswitch down by the brake pedal with 2 wires on it. connect them together to make the lights work.

Hello

Maybe both switches failed. Just jumper them to check that out. They sit on the MBC.

Also turn the fuse in the clamps.

I found the problem,
both brake switches on the master cylinder are not working.
By the way, there are only 2 wires in each plug.

Thanks for the help.
