Jack, I see your membership has lapsed, but here it is anyway. Your car is world famous.

The video was beautifully done. I've been reading Jack's posts here and on the bird forum for years and it was great to see him "live and in living color". A very inspiring story, especially for those of us who enjoy turning wrenches on these fine machines.
Maximum kudo's Jack!

Thank you.
Yes, it's been picked up by Autoblog, Jalopnik, Speedhunters and even Road & Track.
Road & Track called my car 'ferociously beautiful,' which I've shown on the screen to my wife again and agaim, although she still won't let me use it for date night.
I think both the garage and the car hit a chord with a broad swath of car guys because they're both kind of modest in their scope, but ambitious in their details. Jay Leno's garage is infinitely better than mine, and a Singer Porsche has more power, more amenities, and the really expensive go-fast parts. Both of those guys get more views than me. But mine gets a lot (110,000 views of the video in three days) maybe because it has the feel of being within reach. The tub for my car was only $3,500, after all -- and the total bill for the garage was right around that same figure. So no one has to imagine a Powerball win or a huge home loan re-fi to get this stuff. You really just need time and dedication (and, full disclosure, the car ended up costing a lot more than $3,500).
But, whatever the reasons, it's making the rounds and people generally seem to like it. I'm grateful to Petrolicious for making the clip. I think they did a very good job.

Jack, This clip has me asking more questions than ever about your car. I've always loved it and have always assumed it was built at TRE or with TRE or at least was under the influence of TRE. Any truth to that?

the video showed up on Passo Turismo's facebook page. You know, the guys from Munich, who lease out classic aircooled Porsches for people to drive all over Europe. BB has truly gone global now...

Awesome Jack...
love the car, the garage and the approach to life
if I hit the Lottery, there might be a new car in the stable, but I would keep my old one and continue developing it as well.. I mean the difference between "I bought this cool thing" and "I made this and it works" are what make my life worth getting up in the morning for
how cool
someone above said "you are my idol" - I agree in part, but if its one thing, its the passion, the love and the doing of it

I saw the video when it popped up on a Facebook fan page for Porsche... Nice video, both the garage and the car are fantastic.
The garage inspired me to fabricate my own garage cabinets etc. But I'm no Jack Olsen.

You couldn't find two more different kind of guys with a more different approach to their cars. One has built a track car that is street able and the other drives like the street is his private race track. One is a pragmatic seasoned racer and the other is a quirky poseur scofflaw menace.....

There's no doubt that I'm the one who's the menace to society.
I've known Magnus almost as long as I've owned my car. He was club racing with the POC long before I ever did. He may have been shaped into a certain image in the film made about him. But as I've known him, he's a low-key, modest, skilled and extremely generous guy. I've got a piece of sheet metal on my car that he cut out for me (for my front AC condenser) that I could never get him to take money for. And his cars, to my eyes, are just stunning.
I, on the other hand, am a guy who's been busted by law-enforcement aircraft with an R Gruppe wolf pack on its way up through Santa Barbara, and was a pioneer in the use of getting a judge to grant 'repeat offender traffic school,' before it was finally made illegal. Now, all of that's a long way in my past (the canyon footage in my video was the first time I'd been out there in four years). But I can't hold myself up as any kind of model.

Magnus owns a downtown LA location filming busines, so I can see how things might get political with his image and whatnot.
But since I am as far away from Hollywood as possible, I can say without bias that at 2:30 he starts to go on about driving fast on the streets and highway overpasses of downtown LA in his Porsche 911. Around here we call people like that a "tool"...mind you, this is now a residential neighborhood that he's driving in. Not just a downtown warehouse district anymore.
