This weeked I didn't realize I inserted the key in the door only 3/4 of the way. Turned it and it snapped off like butter! Good thing I was able to pull the piece out of the lock. They other key I have is weak as well. Both came with the car and are Ilco keys made in Canada. Can't I get a much stouter key from Porsche or something??

You should be able to get a newer 911 key with the flashlight built in at any Porsche Dealer. They usually cut it on the spot as well. It's a 2 piece with the head and the key.
I have a clifford alarm which unlocks the doors with the remote, makes the wear and tear on the door locks much easier.

Got it. Doesn't do much good to have locks on a convertible, so the doors are never locked and the spare key is in the ash tray if you really want the car. Last thing I need is someone cutting the top to get in. If you want it, take it. Just don't hurt it on your way in.
