Default In Praise of Beaters

As Brooklyn resident in the market for a good 911 with bad paint, this caught my eye:

http://blogs.insideline.com/roadtest...f-beaters.html

These cars look great with a bit of patina and character. It's great to see them on the roads and out of garages.

The list of new cars that I'd rather drive than an old Porsche is short and extremely pricey.

Pretty sure he said that tongue-in-cheek. As one who travels the US too much, and has lived in other states, I'm always glad my return ticket says San Diego.

There are lots of conservatives in Calif still, unfortunately less than half. Funny, while I'm from N. Calif originally, I lived in AZ from '85-91, and fell in love with San Diego then.

This is encouraging....so when the hunks of bondo start falling off of my car, it's going to look even better....cooler even.

Hmmmm. Just you wait- someday, probably about the same time that mid year cars start to appreciate, old rotting bondo will also be cool.

DOH !!

I was at a buddy's house yesterday who threw a rod on his late 70's 3.0 targa track rat - he is thinking of parting it out rather than fixing it - I mentioned now he could get a coupe

he said he had been thinking about a Cayman - well, I looked at him and said, I suppose that would be a natural move coming from a Targa

Any car that you must open a door to climb into, isn't a real sports car....
