1978 Martini Edition
I wanted to get the Boards feedback on a car
that I am looking at. It is a mint 1978
911SC "Martini Edition" with 20,000 miles.
The car is being offered for $24,000.
It is being sold by the original owner. I know the price is premium and may be able to get it down to $22,000. I would appreciate
any info or help in this decision.
thanks TomS

Tom:
I think one of the things to consider when looking at these low mileage, older, special edition cars that are priced at a premium, is that if you start to drive the car and put on miles and wear and tear, the car depreciates quite a bit. For daily driving or lots of weekend driving, I'd try to find a nice, newer SC that's been driven 3000 - 8000 miles per year.
Rubber and seals do age even without driving a vehicle, so there may be some dollars to spend on fixing aged components.
If you're looking for a show car only that is to be driven very little, pay the premium. It's worth it.
Just my $.02.

I totally agree with Jay. I personally would go for a newer 911. Martini was merely a "stripe" option and offered no additional performance gains over the regular series.
