Post tune up question

Howdy folks,

This is probably a stupid question, but hopefully the "there are no stupid questions" rule applies to 3 month-old Porsche owners.

My question is simple - I have owned an Acura Integra since I've been old enough to drive and didn't really notice much difference (read: improvement) when having the car serviced (i.e. the engine sounded the same, power was the same, feel was the same) - but that car and others like it (Hondas, Toyotas) are known for bascially being totally reliable and boring. I'm having a 15K service done to my '81SC with 170,000 next week, and I'm wondering what I should expect when I get the car back from the shop - will I notice a quieter, smoother more powerful-running car? When old 911s are serviced, will there be a marked improvement in any aspect of the car's performance?

Just curious about what other owners out there have experienced...

Thanks, as always, for your replies/words of advice!

After a 15k service you should be able to notice a couple of improvements in your car. The first thing I generaly notice on my SC is the lack of valve chatter. It is never really bad, but after 15k you can definately hear it. After they are adjusted the sound is different. You may also notice an increase in performance, being an older technology car the consumable parts seem to live up to their name. It will not be a big improvement but if you really know your car you will feel it right away. I also find that my car is usually a little faster just because my wallet is that much lighter than when I started oh yeah "no such thing as a stupid question, only dumb mistakes"
