Default Whats does your oil pressure gauge read when warm?

Ive been keeping a close eye on the oil pressure gauge and wondered if just below the 20 mark on tickover and around 4000 rpm between the 60 and 100 was ok when the engine is warm?

Regards

Jeff

Yes oil pressure, sorry i didnt make that clear enough, my gauge is retro so it reads 20, 60, 100 and 140 being the top figure.

when very hot...100 plus deg and on a long drive I'll have 1 bar at 900 rpm, maybe 1 bar plus a tad. Cruising at 3 k about 3 1/2 bar.
1 bar equals 14.5038 psi.
If I use a dino oil 20-50 you get the above numbers. If using Brad Penn at that weight I get higher bar numbers. Oil type/weight makes a dif.
9-10 psi for 1 k rpm is a normal rule of thumb.

I used to idle at close to 2 bar. Pretty much at 4-5 at running speeds.

Not to steal the thread, same subject.
Peter, at what point does high oil pressure start to steal HP. I'm no P expert but know V8 guys want that 9-10 psi per 1 k rpm but do not want excessive pressure as it robs power.
What would that be in a 911?

I did install these restrictors on my '75 911 and I did see a significant increase in indicated hot idle oil pressure afterwards.
[Edit]: Ahhh, I get what these are all about now- thanks for posting the link to the article, Peter!

Thanks for the tip Peter, i have asked for a price for the kit, a hell of a difference in sizes, might be the way to go?

Ive been looking at youtube videos and comparing for example i found this video and my P-car does something like this but the tickover pressure is lower.

Hey Jeff I think based on your scale you have nothing to worry about. I have even heard it is not abnormal to have the oil pressure light flicker while idlingnln the older 911s

My 81 would do that (light flicker)with the air on. The race car is like Ed's.
