Default 3.0 sc Heat exchangers: 1975-79 or 1980-83 Is there a difference?

I have a "1981" 911 3.0 sc, that needs a new pair of heat exchangers, I've been offered a used set but when I looked up the part number thats printed on the set I'm buying (930-211-025-01) as per pelican parts website the part number is listed as a 1975-79 model year part (which is "temporarily unavailable). But then there is *another* set listed on pelican parts site (930-211-025-02-OEM) which is heat exchangers for model year 1980-1983. So am I wrong in thinking the 1975-79 HE will fit just fine on my 1981 sc???

Link to parts page: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/...EXHpip_pg3.htm (3rd and 4th items listed)

Thanks in advance!

I think 1980 went to thick flange on the mating surface to the head. Previous to that was thin flange
If you have an 81 you will need to put mickey mouse spacers on hour studs. I would just get the right exchangers

Damn fingers

Studs would come through the exchanger flanges way to far and you would need spacers unless you replaced all the studs with shorter ones. I am sure people have fabed spacers.

You can use the thin flange heat exchangers if you want. You can stack 2 thick washers to compensate for the thinner flange or you can use copper nuts instead of a barrel nut. I'd recommend copper nuts either way though.

If they're the same price, go with the thick flange. If you can get a super deal on the thin flange ones, you can go with those. I wouldn't buy the stainless thin flange ones rennspeed is selling on ebay though for super cheap.
