Question 86 911 Dash removal

Checked the other threads and didn't see what I was looking for. Anyway, is it possible to remove the upper dash from a 86 911 without removing the windshield? If so then how difficult is it? Thanks.

The 1986-1989 3.2l have the dash held down by the upper metal vent. The metal vent can be removed easily by unfastening a few screws. So the dash can be removed without removing the windshield.
The earlier dashes were held down by a few screws at the leading edge of the dash. These screws are blocked by the windshield which will need to be removed.
Hope it helps.

Some Pelicans say no dash removal.

I would remove it regardless. They aren't expensive in the big picture and a good opportunity to replace. The seal.

That's odd. I have an 86 and I removed the dash without ever removing the windshield.

Why would you insist on something that is simply not true?
I had to remove the windshield when I changed the dash on my 1985 Cab. But for my 1989 Cab, it was just 5 screws on the top metal vent, 7 to 8 nuts from the dash bolts and the dash came right out.
