Keep the revs above 2000 rpm, and enjoy the ride! If you try to shift too quickly, you may find the transmission is a little baulky, which is normal for the 915 transmission. 915 transmissions really likes double clutching, with a pause in neutral. However, unless you do that today without thinking about it, don't worry about it for your test drive. Notice in 2nd or 3rd how effortlessly the engine keeps going and going up towards the redline...maybe keep it under 5000 so the owner doesn't get nervous Brakes should be strong. If suspension is in decent shape it should feel solid, no looseness.

compared to a newer car the trans is terrible. Beware that you need to go to the neutral part of the H pattern: ie 1, to 2 is cake, 2 - 3 you gotta pause a little in the mid shift.. the horizontal of the "H".
I suspect that you will grind a gear. Personally I prefer the 80 and newer because of the "cat" and no air pump stuff.
GOod luck, I know the feeling, I bought the first 911 I drove!
