Bonjour from north of the border !
Hello there !
Another newbie to the forum and to 911s
Looking for a Carrera 3.2, Targa or Cabriolet, '87 to '89.
I started my homework by reading the book ''The Used 911 Story'' wich raised as many questions as it answered. I do know a little about what owning a 25 year old car is like, as I restored a '68 Triumph GT6 (...now looking for something a bit more reliable !)
OK, my first question for you guys: how much should I expect to pay for a good PPI ?
Thanks !
Louis, from (...you guessed it !) Montreal

Thanks for the quick answer Ted !
Well, from what I've read so far, the G50 trans and hydraulic clutch are smoother. I would definitely consider an older Carrera ('84-'86) depending on it's condition, though. So many things to consider ! It's part of the fun I guess
I did narrow down my choices to the Targa and the Cabriolet, as the Coupe is too similar to my GT6 (...in terms of general body shape, I mean !).

There's plenty of debate on trans/clutches, LOL. I'd suggest looking at '84-89's if you want a Carrera. Go for the best car you find for your price. The Targas are awesome, I had a very special '84 I sold a few months ago. Search for "Ruby", and you'll see her. Good luck!

Good Day Montrealer ...
There are always opinions here about stuff and i must say i own the 915 gear box and its a treat . Dont pass up any good cars because of the gearbox . Once you try it youl be hooked.
We also have a Canadian site under regions on the" jump to " drop down and a forum thats in French if you are more comfortable. You are right , lots to learn and a lot of avid Rennlisters in Montreal who would be willing to share with you or know of good cars for sale
Good Luck.

Montrealer, welcome to Rennlist. Are you aware that Montreal is home to a very active region of the Porsche Club? Check out www.rennsport.ca. A thorough PPI will run about $300 and include compression test, leakdown test etc. Come visit us at Le Circuit Mont Tremblant next Monday Tuesday - about 100 of us will be at the track.
